Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ)
MEQ is a qualification program that validates teaching expertise using Moodle. Based on the European Framework for Digital Competences for Educators (DigCompEdu), the program consists of 22 competencies that cover six main areas. The duration of the program depends on the participant’s experience and level of Moodle expertise. However, each course is estimated to take around eight hours to complete.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How are MEQ assignments assessed? – MEQ written assignment are assessed with a rubric, based on the DigCompEdu rubric and linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 (Newcomer), A2 (Explorer), B1 (User), B2 (Expert), C1 (Leader), C2(Pioneer).
- What happens if a candidate fails an MEQ course? -If they fail one MEQ course they will not be eligible for the Moodle Educator Qualification certificate. Candidates will be paused from the MEQ program and they will be redirected to continue with some training. Candidates will be able to return to the MEQ at a later time, three to six months later, once they have gained some experience. If they want to receive the certificate, they will be allowed to continue from where they left, providing they return to MEQ within two years after their first login. Depending on the specific process of their Moodle Certified Partner or Service Provider, the candidate may need to pay a fee.
- What is the estimated time needed for each MAQ course? – The exact time needed for the MEQ depends on your teaching experience and Moodle expertise, but it is estimated that each course needs about eight hours to complete.
- If a candidate gets all the six badges, but doesn’t pay for the certificate, will they be considered as MEQ qualified? – No. The certificate fee is required for the Moodle Education Team to review and confirm that the candidate’s work is ready to be qualified.
- Can MEQ holders sell Moodle branded services? – While MEQ holders are free to use MEQ to leverage their careers, they do not have the legitimate right to use Moodle branding, as this constitutes a trademark infringement.
